FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
If you are doing things like going shopping or going to the bank, we recommend changing the filter every few weeks. If you are in a high dust deconstruction zone, chemical fire, or high smoke area, we suggest changing the filter daily.
The filter cartridge has a two part frame for the filter within the silicone shield, and the filters are inserted into this filter cavity. It's kind of like putting a peg in a hole! Check out this video for HOW TO INSTALL FILTERS FOR SEEUS95 MASK.
The filter cartridge has a two part frame for the filter within the silicone shield, hold the silicone mask at frame for filter and use your other hand and use your nail to pry off the back frame from the front frame's little teeth. You will hear a small click when you pry off the frame. Once the back frame is removed, push the front frame off from the silicone mask. HERE IS A VIDEO OF HOW TO REMOVE THE FILTER CARTRIDGE FROM SEEUS95 MASK.
Check out our video tutorial for removing the protective film from the adhesive layer, HERE.
1. Before removing the protective film check if there are any bubbles or if the adhesive strip has lifted.
2. Press the adhesive down to make sure it is adhered to the silicone.
3. Feel the top layer of the protective layer and lift up at the corner edge about 1/2" then feel underneath to make sure you're not lifting the whole adhesive layer off.
4. If it is not sticky underneath the protective film, you are probably taking the whole adhesion layer off. If it is not sticky underneath, place the protective film back down and start from the other end.
5. Make sure the adhesive layer stays on the silicone. The protective film should lift off easily. If you need to pull or use force, then you are probably taking the whole adhesive layer off.
6. If you do accidentally take the whole adhesive layer off, don't worry you can get replacement adhesive strips. The mask was designed to have replacement adhesive layers.
7. Once all the protective film layers are off the adhesive strips, you can put the mask to your face and press down on the areas of the adhesive layer to make it adhere to your face.
You can watch the cleaning my mask Video HERE.
Get a bowl of warm sudsy water, and use your finger or soft sponge to clean the dirt or debris from your mask. once you remove the dirt rinse with HOT water for one minute. Then air dry. For a deep clean you can put the silicone mask in the dishwasher, however, this may interfere with the anti-fog layer. so we do not recommend using the dishwasher too often. REMEMBER TO TAKE OUT THE FILTERS BEFORE WASHING YOUR MASK.
Yes! The adhesive layer on the nose and under eye area sticks to the face so there is a seal. If worn properly the mask will stop air flowing through the under-eye and nose bridge area. You can even rest your glasses on top of the mask when wearing your glasses.
Our medical grade silicone is made with a fantastic anti fog feature. In extreme conditions such as freezing weather, there may be some fog occurrence. Fog occurs when there is a change in temperature between the surface and environmental temperature which causes condensation. Our highly engineered anti-fog coating is eliminating the formation of condensation on a nano level so the silicone stays clear. See video testing the anti-fog feature HERE.
We have a suggestion for getting the curve around the nose and under eye, area. The silicone can be clipped over night (24 hours), and when not in use. You can even try putting the silicone in the microwave for 60 sec before clipping to get it softer and warmed up--(take out the filters first) Then clip the nose area with a clip such as a paper binder (see picture attached). This should stay on over night, and it should train the silicone to curve around the nose. Try to splay the wings out so it helps train the silicone. If this does not work, you could try using an aluminum strip similar to the ones for the regular masks to shape it to the contour of your nose. The other option is that we are now making replacement adhesive strips which are a stronger adhesive, we are in the process of making them now and testing them. The clipping method and the replacement strips may be what is needed.
Beards will be pressed down by the mask and thus interfere with the N95 rating. However, we still believe SEEUS95 efficacy is better than a surgical mask or cloth mask due to the seal in the area around the nose bridge and under the eye area. This area is where we commonly see gaps in surgical and cloth masks, causing air to be unfiltered at those points. Even the stiff aluminum bar that presses around the nose can still have gaping - this is why your glasses can fog up frequently while wearing a mask!
While human hair has historically been used for filtering water and air, we have not found much data on the efficacy of human hair as a filter for viruses. We recommend cleaning beard hairs frequently in order to ensure there are no lingering particles in the beard hair itself.
Before putting on your mask, we recommend cleaning your skin. This ensures that the chitosan layer can fully pamper your skin, and also ensures less oily skin for better adhesion. The mask can be worn with lotion such as sunscreen and makeup. If you wear makeup, we suggest using a finishing powder so your skin is less oily.
The Skin Therapy Layer (STL) is good at adhering to skin that is a little oily. Most people secrete oil in the t-zone area and less in the under-eye and temple area which is where the mask adheres to the face. However, if you have extremely oily skin, it may be a good idea to use the head strap, which is designed for the SEEUS95 Light Warrior Mask. It is adjustable and can be used with the mask when you have times where you may sweat. Some of our users like to use the head strap and remove the adhesive layer all together. The Mask can be worn with or without head straps. They also work with any other common masks. You can get them HERE.
We have different type of replaceable adhesive strips that may be used with the SEEUS95 Light Warrior Mask. The replacement adhesive strips have a stronger adhesive than the one that comes with the mask. The mask was designed to have replacement adhesive strips, due to the adhesive quality diminishing over time. But with proper care, the adhesive should stay sticky for 3-6 months.
The mask can adhere to skin with sweat; we have tested the mask while working out and it stayed in place for an hour. The replacement adhesive strips are a stronger adhesive so these may be better for people with more oily or sweaty prone skin. We do not recommend this mask for extreme sweating conditions and if you sweat more than 2 liters a day.
The adhesive layer remains sticky with proper care. Cleaning the mask revives the stickiness. If there is excess dirt or debris stuck in the adhesive layer, you can wash the mask with gentle soap and water and let air dry. Note that we do not recommend using a rough material like a scrubber for cleaning; a gentle cloth, sponge, or even alcohol wipe works nicely.

The mask should be put in the microwave for 3 minutes on HI setting. This is the usual time for sanitization with a microwave. Make sure you take out the filters before putting it in the microwave! The silicone may be a bit hot to the touch once microwaving is complete, so be careful when removing it from the microwave. Let it cool for a few minutes before putting on your face.
We are working towards an N95 rating in the USA and are using FDA approved medical grade silicone. So far, early testing on our filters using biodegradable PLA (Polylactic Acid) with MIT and UMASS LOWELL LABS. In the next months we will be going into clinical trails with Harvard Medical School and Brighams Women's Hospital before NIOSH testing.
We have tested our Bio-filter material with MIT labs and with University of Massachusetts LOWELL Labs. We are in the process of clinical trials with Harvard Medical School and Brighams Women's Hospital in Cambridge MA. SEEUS95 Mask is not yet FDA approved as a medical device. Testing has been done on our filter material using our Nano-fiber material and biodegradable PLA (Polylactic Acid) made from corn cellulose and fibers.
TESTING DATA can be found HERE.
The perimeter adhesive layer needs to be in contact with the skin for a seal. If you want to release the air tight seal, just pull the mask up under the chin area so it does not have contact with the skin. Without the air tight seal, mask efficacy will be similar to wearing a cloth mask or a surgical mask, although better protection for those NOT wearing the SEEUS95 mask as well as for the wearer due to the shield element of the design.
You CAN talk with the mask on. The medical grade silicone acts like a second skin and adapts with your facial expressions. Thus, it should not fall off as you talk! While the sound won't be the same as having no mask at all, we do think the sound is slightly better than cloth masks. This is because we designed the mask to have a larger volume in front of the mouth area, which amplifies the sound and allows you to be heard clearly. Also this mask will not rub up against your mouth while talking which impairs your speech. Of course, we didn't want the mask volume to be too large because we are designers at heart and want you to look good while wearing your mask! You can find a video demonstrating mask acoustics here.
When you remove the old adhesive strips there may be left over residue on the silicone mask. You can remove the sticky residue with alcohol and an eraser, cotton, or cloth. Once the residue is cleaned off, rinse with warm water and make sure the surface is dry before installing the replacement adhesive strips. You can check out the instructional video HERE.
We have created a demo for you to see and hear a sound bite of what the sound is like when speaking with the SEEUS95 mask on, HERE.
We have two types of filters with each having different ratings.
The Bio-Filter is made from a Nano-fiber material which is tested 95% filtration efficacy by MIT Labs and University of Massachusetts Lowell Laboratory. SEE TEST RESULTS HERE. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rX-DvKl2GusBNv9Y8DCkKay76yZTMnAF/view?usp=sharing
The Washable filters are not rated and similar to a cloth rating. The washable filters are made of Polylactic acid, also known as PLA, is a thermoplastic monomer derived from renewable, organic sources such as corn starch or sugar cane. PLA is a natural cellulose which is biodegradable and is bacteriostatic.

The SEEUS95 mask is designed to have replaceable adhesive strips. Eventually the sticky adhesion layer will lose the adhesive quality after washing and wearing 3-6 months. You may purchase replacement adhesive strips called ALPHA strips. The Alpha strips are replacement adhesive strips which have a stronger adhesive quality than the ones that come installed on your mask.
The backing film that has a color protective film goes on the silicone side and this should be removed and installed first. The clear protective film should be removed right before applying to your face. Before installing the replacement strips, you should remove the old strips and clean the sticky residue off the mask before installing the new replacement adhesive strips by using alcohol and cotton or use an eraser for any tough bits. You can watch the tutorial for the replacement strips. HERE.
The SEEUS95 mask is made of soft silicone and it can be trained to form a more pronounced curve around your nose bridge. Just clip the nose bridge area with a binder clip, or cloths pin clip for 24 hours to train the silicone. Make sure you spread the wings or temple area side wings out so it creates the curve better. Another way to keep the curve around your nose tighter may be to use the replacement adhesive strips, which are being made now and will be available in April. These will have a stronger adhesive than the ones that come pre installed with your mask.

You can cut your tattoo pieces into what ever design you want on your mask. Cut them to be a strip across the front or sides or make smaller cutouts to make a design on the whole surface of the mask.
The tattoos transfer by wetting/moistening the paper backing which releases the gold or silver from the backing.
Just before applying the tattoos to the mask, you should remove the protective film on the front of the tattoo, they usually come with a protective film so it does not damage the gold leaf before it goes on the surface where you want the Tattoo be.
The tattoos loosen up when they are activated with water so once you know where you want the tattoo on your mask, take off the protective film and then face the gold or silver part down on the silicone mask and paper side facing up.
Then while holding it in place. Put a wet wash cloth on the back of the paper. So it moistens the paper from the gold or silver Tattoo to release from the backing.
The paper should slide off and the tattoo will transfer to the silicone.
To remove the tattoo from the mask— use a damp/wet cloth and wipe off.
These tattoos can also go on your skin— they were originally meant for skin so it looks like you are wearing jewelry around your wrist or arm or wearing a choker on your neck.
